About Me

I am truly honored to serve as a professor at Collin College. As an instructor of the humanities, not only am I able to discuss humankind’s amazing creativity and inventiveness, I am paid to keep learning! No broad field of study yields a greater attraction to me than the humanities because it allows me the possibility of influencing countless others in positive - perhaps unfathomable - ways. I love helping my students see the infinite ways in which various disciplines connect with one another - and why studying the humanities encourages us to appreciate the miraculous gift of life itself.

My teaching career began in 1998, and my only regret is that I didn’t discover it sooner in life! In addition to teaching full-time at Collin College, my other favorite activities include spending time with my family, traveling the world, reading, and pursuing great design. I am also a freelance magazine writer, a perturbed poet, and have special interests in cultural trends – such as the major transformation our society is experiencing as we morph from a “print” culture to a digital environment.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Alabama, a Master of Liberal Arts degree from Southern Methodist University, and a Ph.D. in Humanities from the University of Texas at Dallas.
