The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language defines the humanities as "those branches of knowldege, such as philosphy, literature, and art, that are concerned with human thought and culture."

In Humanities 1301 we will look at the many ways in which humans from across the world and throughout time have commented on their experiences. We will explore many works from both the visual and performing arts, including examples of painting, sculpture, architecture, litterature, music, dance, and theatre.
