Who is Lesley Snelson-Figueroa ?

Director/Choreographer/Performer
Professor of Dance, Collin County Community College
- Before arriving at Collin, Lesley served as adjunct dance faculty for Texas
Woman's University, Tarrant County College, and University of North Texas and
was faculty & choreographer for Denton Dance Conservatory. Currently, Lesley
is a Co-Artistic Director of
Muscle Memory Dance Theatre, a North Texas
Modern Dance Collective. Her love for movement
and fitness lead her to become a Certified Pilates Trainer through Colleen
Glenn's PeakPilates System and has most recently begun a second certification
through the New York City,
Power Pilates System. Mrs. Figueroa completed her MFA
studies in choreography and dance performance at Texas Woman's University -
serving as a Graduate Teaching Assistant teaching Modern, Jazz, Hip-hop, Pilates
classes as well as theory courses related to the understanding of dance as an
art form and popular, visual culture. From 1998-2001, Lesley served as
co-choreographer, assistant to the artistic director and a performer for The
Butterfly Project, a bay-area performance group whose mission is promoting the
empowerment of Women. The Butterfly Project formed at Mills College of Oakland,
California where Mrs. Figueroa completed her undergraduate degrees, a BA in
Dance and a BA in Business Economics. During her studies at Mills College,
Lesley worked with prominent bay-area choreographers such as Mary Cochran,
Janice Garrett, Remy Charlip, Joe Goode, Robert Moses, and Dana Lee Lawton. Mrs.
Figueroa's choreography has been presented by Jazz Dance World Congress,
International Dance Festival of NYC, Emerging Choreographer's Festival, NYC,
DUMBO Dance Festival, Spelman College, University of Central
Oklahoma, St. Mary's College Repertory Dance Company, Stephen F. Austin
University, Perpetual Motion of OKC,
