HIT Program at Collin

The AAS in Health Information Technology (HIT) at Collin County Community College is a CAHIIM accredited18 month program (two academic years) that will prepare the student for certification as a certified coding associate (CCA) and/or a registered health information technician (RHIT).

RHIT’s mainly work in hospitals but may also work in other healthcare settings including physician practices, nursing homes, home health agencies, mental health facilities, and public health agencies.  They ensure the quality of medical records by verifying their completeness and accuracy.  An additional role for RHITs is cancer registrars—compiling and maintaining data on cancer patients.
