Frequently Asked Questions
It's my first time to the site, where do I go?
Check out the video on the home page, which highlights the basic navigation of the site. To get to the home page, simply click on the icon on the left hand side of the nav bar of any page.
Is this the Collin College Biology Page?
No, this is the website of Mark Garcia, a Biology lecture and lab instructor at the Spring Creek Campus. While I do provide a variety of materials that all students can use (Manuals, videos, images, etc.), things like syllabi and specific projects are intended for my students, not necessarily those of other instructors. Always check with your instructor if you are not sure about a specific document or resource on my website.
Are there other instructor sites that can help me prepare for the practical?
Yes! I highly recommend that you also look at the sites of Professor Deborah Cardenas and Professor Jeff Beck. Both sites contains information that previous students have found incredibly helpful when preparing for their practical exams.
Why is the video grayed out/private?
Videos are grayed out and private until the Friday of that particular week's lab. I do this to discourage students from skipping lab and watching the videos in its place.
How do I know when the practical is?
Check the syllabus that your instructor gave you as the dates of the practicals are usually listed there. If you go to any of the lab unit pages, you can also see a countdown clock that counts down to the week of the practical.
Do you host practical review sessions?
I no longer host review sessions as there were too many issues with room capacity, location, and the time frame of the sessions in the past. However, I do have review videos on my website, and provide the listings of review sessions that other instructors are hosting.
