I love teaching ESL because I learn so much from my students. My students are the brightest students in the college. Every day is like traveling to a different country and I feel very fortunate to be able to meet so many wonderful people.

I have a B.A. in guidance/counseling and worked for many years with people with disabilities. One summer, a language school hired me to teach a conversation class. Being a native English speaker was my only experience. After one week of teaching, I realized that I had a passion for teaching ESL. I returned to college (The University of North Texas) to complete an M.A. in teaching ESL. My teaching experience has included working at ELS Language Center (Dallas), I.E.L.I. (Intensive English Language Center, Denton), and Richland College (Dallas). I started teaching at Collin County Community College in 1991 and became the first full time professor of ESL at the college in 1992.

Besides teaching, I spend my free time engaged in diverse activities. I enjoy dancing, mainly popular/disco. I also like reading, Tai Chi and spending time with my son, Kevin.  Some of my students rekindled my interest in badminton which I usually play twice a week. When I have money and time, I travel.  My last big trip was to Asia for a month which included Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Bangkok.  Recently, I have become interested in painting with watercolors and writing humorous short stories.

You may contact me at my email address. I am always happy to answer any questions about the ESL program and CCCCD.
