Catalog Description: Study of matrices, vectors, determinants, inverses, system of linear equations, and linear programming with applications. Not for science majors.
Required Textbook and Supplements: Linear Algebra with Applications by Gareth Williams, 5th edition, 2005 Jones and Bartlett
Method of Presentation: This is a lecture course with student interaction during class.
Grading Policy: Students who do not take all exams will receive an F; otherwise, grades will be assigned based on the average of the following tasks.
60% Four Exams (Will drop lowest exam
grade)
40% Comprehensive Final
Exam
Grading Scale (The instructor reserves the right to make the scale easier than the one given below):
90-100 = A 80-89 = B 70-79 = C 60-69 = D 0-59 = F
Makeup Policy and Late Assignment: All students are required to take all exams and the Final exam. Students who do not take all exams will receive an F. Each student is responsible for knowing when and where the tests will be given.
Resource Material: Any student enrolled in Math 2373 has access to the Math Lab located in J228. The Lab is staffed with faculty and tutors; in addition, it offers free tutorial help, videotapes, graphing calculators, and computer assistance. All CCCCD students may arrange for free online tutoring with the ACCESS office (G 200). Please call 972-881-5898 for scheduling and availability.
Attendance: Attendance is expected but
not required, except for exams.
Course repeat Policy: You may repeat
this course only once after receiving a grade, including W. If you
drop this class on or before census day, it will not count against you.
Course Withdrawal: To drop
this class, you need to do the following:
1. Attain a Drop/Add sheet from the
registrar’s office;
2. Turn in the completed form to the office of Admission
and Records on or prior to the drop
deadline date given above.
3. All students will receive an F if they do not finish this
class and do not withdraw
on or before the drop date given above.
